Simona-Nicoleta Mazurchevici, PhD, Gheorghe Asachi Technical University of Iasi, Romania

Simona-Nicoleta Mazurchevici is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Machine Manufacturing and Industrial Management, Gheorghe Asachi Technical University of IaÅŸi, Romania. Her research focuses on injection molding and 3D printing of biodegradable materials. She obtained her Dr Phys with a thesis entitled Contributions to the study of reinforced parts obtaining process from biodegradable materials by injection molding, 2016. She received License degree in medical physics from Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iasi, Department of Physics. Dr Mazurchevici carried out research internships at Tor Vergata University of Rome, Italy, and at the University of Monterrey, Mexico. She has published over 70 papers, participated at numerous international conferences, and reviewed for several international journals. In addition, she serves as Secretary of Professional Association in the Executive Board of Modern Manufacturing Technologies (ModTech), an association with over 400 members and 13 branches abroad. 

About the Collection

BMC Environmental Science is calling for submissions to our Collection exploring the latest advancements in current technologies and materials that contribute to environmental sustainability. 

This Collection aims to showcase cutting-edge research on emerging materials and processes that promote environmental sustainability, reduce environmental footprints, and enhance the circular economy. Contributions will address the development, application, and integration of sustainable materials and technologies across a range of sectors, including energy, water, waste management, construction, and manufacturing.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Green manufacturing techniques and processes
  • Sustainable materials for various applications
  • Developments in biodegradable plastics and compostable packaging
  • Development of bio-based materials and bio-based plastics
  • Synthesis of biomaterials for industrial and environmental applications
  • Advanced materials for waste reduction, recycling, and upcycling


All manuscripts submitted to this journal, including those submitted to collections and special issues, are assessed in line with our editorial policies and the journal’s peer review process. Reviewers and editors are required to declare competing interests and can be excluded from the peer review process if a competing interest exists.
