Hannah Charles, PhD, UK Health Security Agency, UK

Submission Status: Open   |   Submission Deadline: 14 August 2025

BMC Medical Genomics is calling for submissions to our Collection on Clinical genomics in sexually transmitted infections.

This Collection invites researchers to contribute to the growing field of clinical genomics in sexually transmitted infections. We welcome studies that explore the application of genomic technologies to enhance our understanding of STIs, including their diagnosis, treatment, and prevention. By showcasing innovative research, this Collection aims to foster collaboration and advance the field towards improved public health outcomes.

About the Collection

BMC Medical Genomics is calling for submissions to our Collection on Clinical genomics in sexually transmitted infections.

Leveraging advanced genomic technologies such as next-generation sequencing and transcriptomics, researchers have uncovered the molecular underpinnings of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including HIV, Human Papillomavirus (HPV), Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, and Syphilis. The field of clinical genomics has emerged as a transformative approach in understanding these infections which can lead to improved diagnostics, treatment strategies, and public health interventions. The integration of genomic data with clinical information is paving the way for personalized medicine in the management of STIs, ultimately enhancing patient outcomes and reducing transmission rates. Additionally, the integration of genomic data into public health surveillance systems could enhance our ability to monitor and respond to STI outbreaks in real-time.
