BMC Genomic Data is calling for submission to our Collection, Plant data notes 2. This Collection aims to combine high-throughput omics and computational biology technologies to find a coherently matching geno-pheno association in medicinal and horticultural plant research. We encourage papers dedicated to improving our understanding of biological mechanisms or related data resources. Original Research articles, Data notes and Database articles are considered.

Cheng Song, PhD, West Anhui University, China

Dr Song earned his PhD from Anhui Agricultural University. He holds the position of Scientific Researcher at the College of Biological and Pharmaceutical Engineering at West Anhui University. He has long been engaged in the development and utilization of Chinese herbal resources. He is currently presiding over three projects at the Anhui Provincial Engineering Laboratory (Center) and has participated in one project at the National Key Laboratory and the Anhui Provincial Natural Fund. Dr Song excels in the cultivation and the transcriptional regulation of secondary metabolites in medicinal plants and is an expert in bioinformatic tools. He has published two textbooks and more than 50 academic papers and authorized eight patents. Dr Song serves as an Editorial Board Member and reviewer of several international scientific journals, including those under Springer Nature.

Sachin Teotia, PhD, J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, India

Dr Sachin Teotia earned his MS in Botany from C.C.S. University, Meerut. He received his PhD from Ohio State University in 2009 and subsequently completed his postdoctoral research at Michigan Technological University. He has extensive training and experience working in the field of plant developmental and stress biology using molecular and biochemical tools, including miRNAs and artificial miRNAs. He has conducted transcriptomic studies to investigate genes controlling various plant traits. Dr Teotia's current work focuses on functional genomics using amiRNA- and CRISPR/Cas based modulation of gene expression to control key traits in selected crop plants.

About the Collection

BMC Genomic Data is calling for submission to our Collection, Plant data notes 2. Medicinal and horticultural plants play multiple roles in our lives by providing sources of herbal medicines, beverages, vegetables, fruits, and as ornamental plants. In the last few years, high-throughput technologies have revolutionized the time scale and power of detection of physiological changes and biological mechanisms in plants. Indeed, current sequencing data and tools have helped us better understand their evolutionary history and provide genotype resources for molecular insight into economically important traits. The integration of multi-omics technologies (e.g., genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, lipidomics, ionomics, and redoxomics) is currently at the forefront of plant research. The mining of multi-omics datasets and the development of new computational biology approaches for the reliable and efficient analysis of plant traits are necessary.

The Plant data notes 2 Collection aims to combine high-throughput omics and computational biology technologies to find a coherently matching geno-pheno association in medicinal and horticultural plant research. We encourage papers dedicated to improving our understanding of biological mechanisms or related data resources.

We invite contributions that examine a wide range of topics relating to plant data notes, including but not limited to:

  • Bioinformatics methods or machine learning approaches for modeling biological processes
  • Gene-environment interactions for economically important traits in plants
  • QTL mapping and genome-wide association studies in plants
  • Germplasm characterization using molecular and genomics techniques
  • New computational methods for gene expression data analysis
  • Bioinformatics approaches for modeling gene regulatory networks
  • Identification of important gene families in plant stress biology


All manuscripts submitted to this journal, including those submitted to collections and special issues, are assessed in line with our editorial policies and the journal’s peer review process.
