Koushik Debnath: University of Illinois Chicago, USA

Dr Koushik Debnath is a bio-materials scientist at the University of Illinois Chicago, specializing in the design of bio-materials for tissue regeneration. His research focuses on the development of nanomedicine for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases. Additionally, he explores the utilization of cell-secreted extracellular vesicles for targeted cargo delivery in the context of degenerative diseases.
 

Vijayabhaskarreddy Junnuthula: University of Helsinki, Finland

Vijayabhaskarreddy Junnuthula is a grant-funded researcher at the University of Helsinki, Finland. His research prominently revolves around the development of nanomedicine, spanning various domains within Pharmaceutical Sciences, most notably Pharmaceutics, Pharmacokinetics, and Local Drug Delivery for diverse therapeutic applications. He has been supported by the Finnish Cultural Foundation and was a recipient of The Marie Curie Fellowship from the European Commission under the Horizon 2020 program.


About the Collection

BMC Pharmacology and Toxicology is calling for submissions to our Collection on Developments in selective drug deliveries. We welcome research that focuses on, but is not limited to, next-generation drug delivery for diseases, novel methods of drug delivery carriers, utilization of advanced technologies for drug delivery and personalized drug delivery systems.

Recent advancements seen in the field of drug delivery technologies have resulted in significant improvement in treatment outcomes. Reduction of adverse effects, discovery of new delivery routes and pathways, and maximization of therapeutic efficacy are the few marked improvements orchestrated by advances in drug delivery research. Hand in hand with the continually evolving therapeutic landscape, recent developments of drug discovery have encouraged the shift from small-molecule drugs to new generations of therapeutics, including proteins and peptides, monoclonal antibodies and live cells.
