About the Collection

BMC Oral Health is pleased to announce our upcoming Collection on Patient maintenance and management following periodontal treatment. Following periodontal treatment, patient maintenance and management are crucial for ensuring long-term treatment success and preventing disease recurrence. This Collection aims to explore various aspects of patient care, including the effectiveness of different maintenance strategies, the role of patient education, and the importance of regular follow-up appointments. By focusing on these elements, we aim to enhance our understanding of how to optimize treatment outcomes and improve overall patient quality of life.

Advancing our collective understanding of patient maintenance and management following periodontal treatment is essential for several reasons. First, it allows for the identification of best practices that can lead to improved treatment outcomes and reduced rates of disease recurrence. Recent advances in this field have highlighted the importance of shared decision-making between clinicians and patients, as well as the integration of technology in monitoring patient progress. Furthermore, research has shown that personalized maintenance plans tailored to individual patient needs can significantly enhance adherence and satisfaction, ultimately leading to better oral health outcomes.

We invite submissions on a range of topics that include but are not limited to:

  • Effectiveness of maintenance strategies
  • Role of shared decision-making in treatment
  • Patient education and engagement
  • Factors influencing treatment success and failure
  • Exploring the use of digital health tools

This Collection supports and amplifies research related to SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being.
